Doctrinal Basis of the Fellowship
The Doctrinal Basis of the Fellowship includes the following fundamental truths of the Christian faith:
i. The divine inspiration of the Scriptures and its final authority in the matter of faith and conduct: “all scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness, that the man of God may be perfect thoroughly furnished unto all good work” 2 Tim. 3:16-17;
ii. The unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the God-head- Deut. 6:4, Matt. 28:19, Heb. 1:1-3, Col. 1:15-17;
iii. The love of God shown in the gracious provision of His only son made for redemption – John 3:16.
iv. The incarnation of the Son of God, atonement through His blood, His body, burial, resurrection and ascension and expectation of His personal return: “for I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received how that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures…” 1 Cor. 15:3;
v. The justification of sinners by faith in Jesus Christ alone – Rom. 5:1;
vi. The work of the Holy Spirit in the new birth and his transforming power in the life of the believer: “For the grace of God that bring salvation has appeared to all men teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly in this present age;….looking for the blessed hope, and glorious appearing of our great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” – John 16:8, Titus 2:11-13; and
vii. The church is the body of Christ to which all believers belong and there is no distinction of color or race – Col. 3:11, Eph. 4:4-6.
