CCF 2024 Retreat: Christian couples should live lives worthy of their calling in Christ – Rev. Dr. Pofi

THE Annual Christian Couples’ Fellowship (CCF) Retreat ended on Saturday, August 10, 2024, in Miango with a charge on Christian couples to live lives worthy of their calling in Christ. They were reminded that marrying in church does not make a marriage a Christian home because when Jesus is not in the lives of couples, anything goes in such marriages.

The Chair of the Board of Trustees of the fellowship, Rev. Dr. David Pofi, said that if you want a Christian home, you must imitate Christ and let Him regulate your home. He enjoined over 90 couples at the retreat not to live as unbelievers whose hearts are darkened in their understanding of God and are walloped in unrighteousness. Citing Ephesians 4:1-6, he said that Christians can no longer live according to the desires of their former lives full of impurity and greed.

As Christians who live a new life, couples must strive to be like God in love and truthfulness. He said they should shun anger, laziness, bitterness, and unwholesome words, adding that, “if you are looking for a Christian home, you will find it where Christians live in true righteousness.”

He enjoined couples to watch out for relationship killers such as falsehood, secrecy, anger, unforgiveness, laziness, and sinful desires if they are to grow together in marriage. Marriage is a relationship and when there is growth, there is laughter in the home, according to him.

The theme of this year’s retreat is “Growing Together in Christian Marriage.

CCF Kaduna starts online family prayer meeting

The Christian Couples’ Fellowship, Kaduna Zone has started a family virtual prayer meeting as a platform to bring members of the zone together to pray by 8 pm every Friday. Couples in the zone saw the platform as a veritable tool to complement its regular meetings and to maintain constant communication in the face of the high cost of transportation necessitated by the increase in the price of fuel.

CCF Abuja Reflects on 2025 Couples’ Retreat

On September 11, 2025, the Abuja CCF Zone gathered at Mungo Park Garden to reflect on this year’s Couples’ Retreat. Attendees shared highlights and lessons from Dr. Segun and Mrs. Helen Falope’s teachings, emphasizing marriage as a discipleship hub—a training ground to raise godly children, mentor younger couples, and extend Christ’s love to those who have yet to know Him.

CCF National Coordinator, Dr. Patrick Dakum, closed the session by citing Matthew 19:1-12, reminding everyone that the measure of a Christian couple’s success is not defined by the world’s standards—wealth, fame, or status—but by faithfully living out God’s divine purpose for marriage.

He urged couples to renew their commitment to each other and support the CCF Village project and the proposed viewing centers, enabling those unable to travel to the next retreat to participate and be blessed.
